Strawberry Shortcake

  • 2 Cup flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 Cup sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp margarine , melted
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1 Quart ice cream
  • 4 Fl Oz whipped cream , optional
  • 4 Cup strawberries , hulled
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
Preheat oven to 350 ℉. Prepare an 8x8 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add egg, margarine, and milk; mix well. Bake 25-30 minutes or until light brown. Remove from oven; cool.

To make sauce, in a large bowl, mix together strawberries and sugar. Let stand 30 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.

To serve, cut shortcake into pieces; add ice cream. Spoon strawberry sauce over ice cream. Garnish with whipped cream or topping.
