Sweet Buns

  • package active dry yeasts
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 4 Fl Oz lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp anise seed
  • 1 Cup milk , scaled and cooled
  • 1 large eggs
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter , melted
  • 4 1/2 Cup all purpose flour
  • 4 Tbsp light brown sugar
Place yeast and 1 normal tsp of the sugar in 1/2 normal cup lukewarm water for 15 minutes, or until foamy. Stir in the remaining sugar and add the salt, anise seed, milk, egg and half of the melted butter.

Put flour in a bowl; stir in the liquid mixture until combined well. Knead dough on floured surface to make a soft, slightly sticky dough. Form dough into a ball; place in a buttered bowl; turn to coat. Let rise, covered with plastic wrap until double in bulk. Punch down, knead for 15 seconds. Divide into 24 pieces. Form pieces into balls; arrange on buttered baking sheets; let rise, uncovered, till double in bulk. Brush with remaining butter, sprinkle with brown sugar, and bake at 400 ℉ for 15 minutes.
