Cinnamon Anise Cookies

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Cup shortening
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 4 Fl Oz orange juice
  • 2 tsp anise seed
  • 1/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
Cream shortening and first listing of sugar sugar. Beat in eggs, orange juice, and anise seed. Combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until easy to handle. Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar. Roll the dough to 1/8 inch thickness, cut with 2 inch cookie cutter dipped in flour. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 375 ℉ for 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
