Bistro Cheeseburger

  • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 3 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 Lb lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 slice red onion , .5 in. thick
  • 8 slice Swiss cheese
  • 4 Kaiser rolls , split and toasted
  • 4 Romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slice
Prepare grill or turn on broiler. Combine mayonnaise and mustard in a bowl and set aside. Season ground beef with salt and pepper to taste. Divide into 4 whole patties. Brush cut sides of onion with oil. Arrange onions and burgers on grill and cook uncovered, 5 inch from heat source 6-7 minutes per side, for medium-done meat and tender onions. Season onions with salt and pepper to taste. Place 2 pieces of cheese on each burger about a minute before burgers are done. Spread mustard mixture over toasted top half of each roll. Place lettuce and tomato on bottom half. Place cheeseburger over tomato and top with onion.
