Quick Barbecued Beef Sandwiches

  • 3 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onions , chopped
  • 1 3/4 Lb can condensed tomato soup
  • 4 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp vinegar
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 Lb cooked roast beef , thinly sliced
  • 12 hamburger rolls , or round sandwich buns, split and toasted
Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Cook onion 4-5 minutes, or until tender. Add soup and next 4 ingredients. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cook 5 minutes. Add beef and heat through. Divide meat mixture among 12 whole roll halves. Top with remaining roll halves.

VARIATION: Substitute 1.5 whole lb cooked roast beef thinly sliced cooked turkey for beef.
